Thermography

Mamma thermography or thermal imaging is a state-of-the-art, non-invasive, painless, and radiation-free complementary functional evaluation method that helps monitor or diagnose breast cancer.

Benefits

What is breast thermography?

Thermography So thermal imaging is a complementary functional assessment method non-invasive, state-of-the-art, without pain and without irradiation helps monitor or diagnose breast cancer.

In the literature, thermography of the breast is described as a functional method that can highlight changes in vascularization, perfusion, and inflammatory activity in the breast. Studies have shown that certain abnormal thermal patterns can be associated with increased risk or more biologically active tumors, but this information must be interpreted in the clinical context of each patient. It offers a complementary perspective on breast health, especially in monitoring and guiding further investigations when asymmetries or persistent changes occur.

How does breast thermography help you?

Has anyone in your family had breast cancer? Are you over 30 and worried that you might develop it too? In Romania, 80% of breast cancer cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage when a cure is no longer possible.

It doesn't sound very encouraging, BUT…

Breast cancer can be detected in its early stages, when it is treatable, in 95% of cases! All you need is an annual routine check-up. This way, breast thermography can signal early functional changes that require further investigation.

Thermography can provide early information about local changes and guide you towards further investigations, without replacing mammography. This way, the diagnosis is made in the early stages, treatment is effective, and you can continue to enjoy life with your loved ones.

Don't postpone anymore! Prevention and regular monitoring can make a difference. Your life is at stake. Schedule now and you'll thank yourself later!

How does it work?

The method uses a high-performance, ultra-sensitive camera to capture and produce very high-resolution infrared images of the body's heat patterns and blood flow.

The principle used for interpreting the obtained images analyzes the temperature distribution. Radiation emitted from the surface of the body is recorded. With this information, we obtain a visual map of the temperature distributions.

To detect subtle changes on the surface breast thermography use artificial intelligence to produce digital infrared images.

This highlights its cold and warm areas. Warmer areas of the body have increased and faster blood flow.

When a tumor grows, cancer cells multiply, requiring additional blood. A larger amount of blood will increase the temperature on the skin surface, which will be visible on thermography.

Each mammary gland has a unique representation of blood vessels that displays this map on thermographic images.

By constantly monitoring the evolution of the map, the chances are much higher of detecting a possible cancer in its early stages and preventing tumor development.

Three-dimensional functional infrared imaging (3DIRI) is considered to work independently of breast density and creates three-dimensional vascular maps to detect asymmetry, as well as variations in shape, density, and perfusion rate between breasts.

Even better results were obtained using artificial intelligence in recent studies.

Applications of Thermography in Breast Screening:

1. It can signal early functional changes in the appearance of cancer:

    • Identify abnormal heat patterns associated with increased blood flow and vascular changes, which may indicate early signs of cancer.
    • Provide a painless and radiation-free alternative or complement to mammograms.

  1. Non-Cancerous Conditions:
    • InflammationIdentify areas of inflammation in the breast tissue, which may indicate conditions such as mastitis or other infections.
    • Fibrocystic ChangesMonitorize heat variations in dense or irregular breast tissue caused by hormonal changes.
    • Benign Nodules and TumorsDetect abnormal heat patterns that may suggest the presence of benign formations, such as fibroadenoma.
    • Post-Surgical MonitoringMonitor recovery and ensure no complications arise, such as infections, after surgeries or biopsies.

Benefits of Thermography:

  • Safe for All AgesSuitable for young women or those with dense breast tissue, where mammograms may be less effective.
  • Early DetectionIdentify physiological changes before they become structural abnormalities.
  • Non-invasive and ComfortableWithout compression or contact, making it an ideal method for sensitive individuals.

Thermography offers a comprehensive approach to understanding breast health, serving as a valuable tool for both cancer-related and non-cancerous conditions. Consult the doctor to see if thermography is suitable for your breast health monitoring plan.

Thermography for Breast Cancer Screening

Thermography is a safe and non-invasive method used in breast cancer screening to detect changes in breast tissue. It works by using an infrared camera to measure heat patterns on the skin's surface. Abnormal heat patterns can indicate increased blood flow or inflammation, which can be associated with early signs of breast disease, including cancer.

Key points for patients:

  • Without pain and radiationUnlike mammography, thermography does not involve breast compression or radiation exposure.
  • Early detection deviceIt can help detect physiological changes that occur before structural changes are visible by other imaging methods.
  • Complementary screeningThermography does not replace mammography, but it can be used alongside it for a more comprehensive view of breast health.
  • Preventive informationBy identifying abnormal heat patterns over time, it allows for closer monitoring or further testing, if necessary.

Regular thermography screening can be an additional step in ensuring breast health. Always discuss with your doctor to determine the best screening approach for you. Contact us at expertlaser.ro
